5 Yoga Warm-Ups for Running

5 Yoga Warm-Ups for Running By Mayank sarkar  Jumping into any run, especially a marathon, without a proper warm-up is a recipe for strained muscles -- or worse! That’s why I asked one of my yoga students -- seasoned marathon-runner Jodi Karuso, aka “Run Jodi” -- for help in creating a quick and simple sequence for runners to get ready for the race -- no mat or bare feet required! To go the distance, Karuso says runners need to focus on upper- and lower-body moves that not only stretch and open those areas, but also encourage proper muscle activation. This five-move, two-minute sequence does just that, and Karuso says doing this warm-up right before you head to the starting line will make it easier to establish and sustain a consistent pace (as well as reduce your recovery time so you'll be able to walk the next day without too much moaning!). So invest two minutes pre-race to avoid 24 to 48 hours of suffering! (Note: Runners with a history of knee or foot injuries -- and especia

Try Gwen Jorgensen’s 15-Minute Exercise Ball Workout on Your Next Strength Day

Try Gwen Jorgensen’s 15-Minute Exercise Ball Workout on Your Next Strength Day As runners, we prefer to be out there running. But we know, by now, that strength training is important for improving performance and preventing injury, so we make the time. Still, run-of-the-mill sit-ups, planks, push-ups, and squats can get a bit boring after a while. But that’s where an exercise ball (sometimes called a physio ball or Swiss ball) comes in. You can replicate many of your go-to exercises with this piece of equipment to increase the challenge, meaning you’ll get even more out of the workout in the same amount of time. That’s part of how Gwen Jorgensen stays at the top of her game. Jorgensen won gold in the triathlon at the 2016 Olympics and, soon after, decided to transitioning to running. In that time, she made her marathon debut in Chicago in 2016, joined the Bowerman Track Club in 2017, won the 2018 Stanford Invitational 10,000 meters, finished seventh in the 10,000 meters at the 2018 U

Revelations from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new biography

In August, royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand released their much anticipated biography on two of the most famous people in recent years. 'Finding Freedom' tells the story of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship and departure from royal life, from their side (according to the writers). The book certainly gives an intimate and sympathetic look into their budding relationship and struggles to find peace within their roles. Above all, it's a fascinating peek into the inner workings of royal life and the couple's relationships with their families, the court, and the media. Jagger thought it was an ad, but Garland called it a “promo.” “But it’s an ad,” retorts Jagger, who is looking to be paid. So Garland digs into his pocket and drops a wrinkled dollar bill and offers him that. Garla

BIOGRAPHY: I WANT MY MTV : STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?

BIOGRAPHY: I WANT MY MTV : STREAM IT OR SKIP IT? A&E’s venerable Biography series has morphed over the past few years, from one-hour collections of news clips and talking-head videos about a particular celebrity or notable person to feature-length documentaries about companies, networks and other larger concepts. I Want My MTV goes back to the earliest days of the network that became a standard-bearer for music trends in the ’80s and ’90s and also revolutionized in the original series department with shows like The Real World. The Gist: Director/producers Tyler Measom and Patrick Waldrop manage to get most of the biggest names associated with the beginnings of MTV, which launched on August 1, 1981, from stars who were in the early videos, to two of the original VJs to pretty much all the significant executives who helped bring the crazy idea of a 24-hour music video channel to life. (The network’s first video? “Video Killed The Radio Star” by The Buggles, of course.) It’s hard to
